Grab your skis and celebrate the Snow Moon at Farmgate. We have ~4km of back-country ski trails through our pristine sugarbush. Guided by the light of the full moon (and Brenda & Jim), enjoy this fun traverse followed by a hot mulled cider!
Important details:
Our trails are single-track back-country ski trails. They’re not suitable for snowshoes.
Please bring your own equipment. Rentals are available at the Nick Smith Centre and Ottawa Valley Air Paddle.
We’ll meet at the barn and head out as a group.
We would class our trails as beginner/intermediate difficulty. There are multiple loops, so you can head back to the barn sooner if you’ve had enough.
The full circuit takes about 45 mins.
Your ticket includes one beverage after the ski - hot or cold!
We’re keeping our fingers crossed for a clear night; if the moon’s not out, we’ll still enjoy a ski with headlamps (please bring yours if you have them!)
February 14
1pm-4pm
Join us for a family-friendly afternoon of winter activities, warm-mulled cider, and silliness!
What is Wassailing? Our take on an old pagan tradition that gives thanks for harvests past, and prepares our orchard for a bountiful season ahead. There's singing, hanging toast on trees, and of course, scaring away bad spirits by banging on pots and pans!
Schedule
1pm
Drop in anytime. Inside you can: enjoy cider samples, tour our production space, make a craft and warm up. Outside you can: explore our snow-covered property, go tobogganing, hang out by the bonfire, or bring your cross-country skis and explore our trails.
2:30pm
Meet at the barn to start the Wassailing! We’ll walk down to the orchard, banging on pots to ward away the bad spirits, and singing songs to welcome the good ones. This is the fun part you don’t want to miss!
$10 per person or $25 per family (kids and grownups)
Tickets include:
Access to the Wassailing event
1 cider sample per person (non-alcoholic mulled cider available)
A pot to bang on (but bring your own if you have a favourite!)
Toast to give to the trees
Chatting with the cider experts
Access to Farmgate Cider’s beautiful property
